VOICE & MOVEMENT WORKSHOPS
Blue Raincoat Theatre Company will host the 8th annual Blue Raincoat Theatre Academy 12th - 27th January 2019.
The Academy provides multi-disciplinary training for all artists and performers.
Workshops will take place at The Factory Performance Space, Lower Quay St., Sligo.
Voice Training and Development are explored through the methodologies and techniques of the Roy Hart International Voice Centre, France.
The pedagogic approach of Roy Hart Training begins with the premise that each individual voice is unique. There is no singular established method rather the training is a disciplined exploration guided by the teacher releasing sources of energy and imagination to open the voice, to realise its potential. Roy Hart teaching workshops have been developed based on a history of more than 80 years of research, study and practice of the human voice.
WEEKEND WORKSHOP (Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th January 2019)
This 2 day workshop will introduce students to the techniques and exercises inherent in Roy hart Vocal Training including diaphragmatic breathing, projection and breath control as well as focusing on the development of individual vocal range.
Senior Teacher at the Roy Hart Centre, David Goldsworthy will conduct this workshop.

4 DAY WORKSHOP INTENSIVE with DAVID GOLDWORTHY (Monday 14th - Thursday 17th January 2019)
Limited to 5 Students, this focused workshop will intensify the training concentrating on the individual vocal development of each participant, broadening their personal vocal understanding and opening greater possibilities of vocal range.
Areas covered include:
Diaphragmatic Breathing & Projection
Pitch and Tone development
Individual Vocal Study
(Due to the focused nature of the work and size of group, teaching will be contained to 3 and a half hours per day. Participants may use the facilities for personal training and study throughout the day)

WORKSHOP BOOKED OUT
MOVEMENT (Monday 21st – Friday 25th January 2019)
This workshop involves training in the discipline of Corporeal Mime. Corinne Soum combines the experience of having been a student and assistant of Etienne Decroux and having taught, developed and directed Corporeal Mime for more than 30 years.
The training will include gestural grammar, body articulation, counterweights, walks and displacement in space, figures of style, mobile statuary, and musicality of movement. Extracts of the repertoire of Etienne Decroux will be taught during the workshop to fully experience this unique modern mythology of movement theatre. Participants will also explore the infinite possibilities of drawing from this repertoire to create personal work.

Blue Raincoat Theatre Academy Masterclasses 2019
Micheal Keegan-Dolan - Director & Choreographer
Michael Keegan–Dolan will share some of the processes of work which he has developed with dancers, singers, actors and musicians over the last twenty years, identifying practices that may be useful for future creative endeavours. Focusing on the act of doing, participants and tutor will work with different elemental and energetic dynamics, explore the skillful use of the senses and their application to work, rhythm and musicality.

WORKSHOP BOOKED OUT
Jamie Vartan – Set designer
Award-winning designer Jamie Vartan will conduct a two-day workshop at the Factory Performance Space. The programme will include a study of design for theatre incorporating different performance spaces and styles of theatre. Participants will be introduced to the different processes used in creating the designer’s previous work with the emphasis on designing for new works and writing. There will also be a practical compositional element to the workshop with participants creating work of their own under guidance from the tutor.
