UNDER MILK WOOD by DYLAN THOMAS
“To begin at the beginning: It is a spring, moonless night in the small town, starless and bible-black….”
The opening lines of Under Milk Wood invites the audience to listen to the night sounds of Llareggub, a small and quiet seaside village.
Dylan Thomas’ celebrated play draws you into the wonderfully evocative, sometimes bizarre stories and poems of one whole day in the life of the many inhabitants of the village. Populated by some of the best-loved characters in literature, this play for voices is both brilliantly funny and deeply moving.
First produced in 1954 as a radio play, it was later adapted for the stage and film.
In this production, produced by Blue Raincoat Theatre Company, the cast of local players are drawn from the rich tradition of drama and musical societies that thrive throughout the county of Sligo.
All events take place at The Factory Performance Space
