In the autumn of 1968 Donald Crowhurst set out from England in the first single-handed nonstop round the world sailboat race. He was never seen again. The struggle for mind and body revealed in log-books later discovered in his abandoned boat have placed his astonishing voyage amongst the greatest and most poignant human adventure stories of all time.
