About Blue Raincoat ... ![]() Blue Raincoat Theatre Company was founded in 1991. Since inception the Company has staged over 50 productions 15 of which have been commissions for new work for the theatre. The Company has trained extensively in corporeal mime and movement and the Company's work is renowned for the use of a strong visual and physical language along with text, sound and multimedia. The Company has a full-time ensenble of 12 members. In addition to the production of high quality theatre, the Company is involved in national and international touring; promotion of cultural exchange through the European Theatre Project; year round arts participation programmes; a range of training seminars including annual workshop series for N.U.I.G, National University of Ireland Galway and the University of Ulster. Blue Raincoat organise the annual Cairde Summer Festival, a multi disciplinary event that celebrates creativity whilst promoting inclusion. In 2007 Blue Raincoat launched a 5 year Theatre Resource initiative that will see the Company develop a Theatre Library, Blue Raincoat Mobile Theatre, a lecture-workshop programme, Blue Raincoat Press and a dedicated Theatre School. Blue Raincoat maintain their own venue in Sligo, The Factory Performance Space which is home to Blue Raincoat as well as an on-going programme of high quality cultural events. |
