About Blue Raincoat ... Blue Raincoat Theatre Company is a professional theatre company based in Sligo, Ireland. Founded in 1990, Blue Raincoat has staged 63 productions, 14 of which were world premieres and the company has won consistent critical acclaim. The company has staged 3 productions at Ireland’s National Theatre, and has also performed at the Dublin Theatre Festival. Blue Raincoat tours extensively throughout Ireland every year. Recent performances outside Ireland have taken place at venues and festivals in Berlin, London, Madrid, Frankfurt an Oder, and Warsaw. The company operates as an ensemble, maintaining a full time 11 member core artistic / production group (click folder for individual bios). The ensemble retains 5 productions in repertoire and performs and tours these while developing new works. Blue Raincoat Theatre Company also maintains its own venue in Sligo, The Factory Performance Space. The Factory is an intimate and atmospheric venue which has been developed from a derelict pork abbatoir by the company since 1991. It serves as the operating base for the company's artistic programme and also as a focal point for the company's year round arts participation programming.
